Written in 2010, Mother is a tribute to women whose love, courage and sacrifice endure despite illness, violence and war. Dedicated to the countless women whose strength too often remains unseen.
Loose translation of my lyrics into English: My beloved aunt, light of Afghanistan, You gave him life and raised him to be a man, Yet this is how time has treated you— leaving you no place to call your own.
You endured such pain and battled cancer, Your courage standing as a testament; He showed no regard neither for your loyalty nor the faith you held, and stripped all peace and comfort from your life.
My noble sister, silenced and trapped in Pakistan, He took you when your beauty was radiant; He struck you down and stole your sense of safety, leaving you now confined within a prison.
Mother, he took the years and vitality of your life, repaying your tenderness with hatred; He never once acknowledged the debt he owed you— To you, I present my greetings; to you, I present my offering.

## 📜 ORIGINAL POEM
Ashes for daughters is a lament for mothers whose lives have been reduced to survival by war. Inspired primarily by the tragedy unfolding in Palestine yet echoing countless conflicts where civilians bear the heaviest burden, the song is not about armies or politics, but about human loss. Through the eyes of one woman carrying grief, memory and an unbroken maternal love, it gives voice to those who continue walking despite the ashes around them with the hope that one day the cycle of war will end.
She walks slow life bundled on back Agony her fiefdom, mind scattered throughout waters, thoughts a procession
[Verse] She walks slow, life bundled on back Agony her fiefdom, so black Mind scattered throughout the waters, thoughts a procession that falters
[Verse] They deal blow never cut her slack Trinity not random, to stack Houses flaming as their hearts lurch Children’s school, hospital and church
[Chorus] Two may die. May they ever live for their fathers’ tales to forgive She cries as her lung deep inhales ashes for daughters as she wails
[Verse] She faces it with beaten brow Heart crushed though face never to bow In her soul lights a burning fire Orphaned twin stokes fleeting desire
[Chorus] Two may die. May they ever live for their fathers’ tales to forgive She cries as her lung deep inhales ashes for daughters as she wails

## 📜 ORIGINAL POEM
Freelancer reflects on the freedom to think beyond inherited certainties. Through symbols of shadow and light, angels and dice, the poem explores the tension between conformity and inner discernment, questioning rigid beliefs while embracing the humility that accompanies higher awareness. It celebrates the courage to stand between opposing certainties, trusting the deeper flow of destiny and recognising that true freedom lies not in choosing sides, but in remaining open to wisdom wherever it may lead.
They work blind Their tools are hammers Mouth unkind Sullen face Words they spew are of disgrace For crushed soul stammers
[Verse] Within the backyards, they work blind Their tools are hammers, mouth unkind For crushed soul stammers, sullen face The words they spew are of disgrace
[Verse] Shadow race, they crawl the Earth slow It is not theirs, the High and Low Like sparrow announcing the rain, they scrape relentless tides of pain
[Chorus] Who should win? In love all is fair Questions brim within, choice to bear Leaving it to chance, I ponder Reckless, dices cast, Freelancer
[Verse] Others fly, Wings beacon of light illuminating deep the night Round the clock the daytime they ply soaring Angels high in the sky
[Verse] Merry hearts, their high-pitched songs float silken sound ushered from the throat Life stills as it starts above gloom Their souls filled gladness, they shun doom
[Verse] I stand poised, neither here nor there in between Light’s slices repaired There is more to it than is seen Balance to lead dance slow, pristine
[Chorus] Who should win? In love all is fair Questions brim within, choice to bear Leaving it to chance, I ponder Reckless, dices cast, Freelancer

Melting Gold is a meditation on transformation through fire, love and remembrance. The poem journeys beyond the illusion of mortality towards a consciousness that is continually renewed. It celebrates the resilience of the soul, reminding us that even our deepest wounds can become the crucible from which compassion, hope and enduring light emerge, leaving seeds of renewal for those who follow.
I composed A song of perhaps You and I Eternal A pair of hummingbirds free Flight in the night’s sky
[Verse] I composed a song of perhaps You and I, eternal, no traps A pair of hummingbirds free sigh shimmering flight in the night’s sky
[Verse] Decomposed flesh flung back at me bitter truth of this realm to flee The vanishing sweet corpses face Earth-bound fall, locked in death’s embrace
[Verse] Illusion of mortality sank my heart then I heard so free the voices singing the song sweet They sang beyond Time, on repeat
[Verse] Fading chant infused with the Love survived flesh burnt afresh through shrove Cinders of memories that flew back into known motion anew
[Chorus] Liquid frame, it rises from meld of the fires from pain withheld Melting gold into cracks of rains Eternal sunshine in my veins
[Verse] Emotion fanned by raging flames Rising phoenix sings to acclaims Rekindled bright red the soul’s spark If you hear not song, then do hark
[Verse] You and I rotating dust specks Settled in, deep within gold flecks where the bare core burgeoned again into soft petals grown in glen
[Verse] Purple bloom on tree of whispers Endless hum intoned by lispers Deep in nooks of the heart that stores Carefree melodies fill our cores
[Verse] Ethereal, we rise through the airs Whiff of scent, heart unbent that shares pollinized sparkles of sun scape forming of our souls the true shape
[Chorus] Liquid frame, it rises from meld of the fires from pain withheld Melting gold into cracks of rains Eternal sunshine in my veins
