## 🧠 ABOUT THE PROCESS

I transformed my original poem by adapting it into lyrics that were then used for a song generated using Suno, featuring my voice. Below you’ll find part of the original poem, the revised lyrics, and the musical version.

## 📜 ORIGINAL POEM

Ashes for daughters is a lament for mothers whose lives have been reduced to survival by war. Inspired primarily by the tragedy unfolding in Palestine yet echoing countless conflicts where civilians bear the heaviest burden, the song is not about armies or politics, but about human loss. Through the eyes of one woman carrying grief, memory and an unbroken maternal love, it gives voice to those who continue walking despite the ashes around them with the hope that one day the cycle of war will end.

She walks slow
life bundled on back
Agony
her fiefdom,
mind scattered throughout waters,
thoughts a procession

## ✍️ ADAPTED LYRICS

[Verse]
She walks slow, life bundled on back
Agony her fiefdom, so black
Mind scattered throughout the waters,
thoughts a procession that falters

[Verse]
They deal blow never cut her slack
Trinity not random, to stack
Houses flaming as their hearts lurch
Children’s school, hospital and church

[Chorus]
Two may die. May they ever live
for their fathers’ tales to forgive
She cries as her lung deep inhales
ashes for daughters as she wails

[Verse]
She faces it with beaten brow
Heart crushed though face never to bow
In her soul lights a burning fire
Orphaned twin stokes fleeting desire

[Chorus]
Two may die. May they ever live
for their fathers’ tales to forgive
She cries as her lung deep inhales
ashes for daughters as she wails

The fleeting travels

Of bees, birds and of fireflies

Across winter skies

The breath of Thunder

Bolting through the cloudy shroud

A blanket of stars

Bright the eerie nights

As shadows slink into lights

Waning mysteries

Dissolve the cobwebs

Spiders’ work will blow no more

Chilly winds of Toth

Slaves of yesterday

Rise to seasonal high tides

Spring will set them free

The smiles of morrows

Etched in infinity’s bluebells

Between bow and tie

Days will cut fabrics

Nights will stitch together hems

Of blackbirds new flags

Weeping in past tense

Hearts dawn to new reckonings

Upon sunlit paths

The sun will set blaze

A cross tidal waves that climb

Within Heart’s waters

Christen the daughters

Ivy, Jasmine, Mistletoe

The winding creepers

Shutters braced open

With all of Heart’s bright vessels

Golden beginnings

Of Gold the linings

Stained red with tinmen’s droplets

Vessels of Copper

Of thirteenth the month

A backdrop of new life’s roots
