I crossed the river
10 December 2015

Breathless and aching
Every fibre agony
Sanctuary’s walk
Mismatched memories
Winding pathways and meadows
Dollhouses and trains
Tremors in whispers
A cold call to wrong numbers
Dialling the waves
Oceans hung on cliffs
Between skies and the valleys
Cheating gravity

Mathematical
Clockwork ticking core numbers
Precision like sword
Caterpillar crawled
On leaf flying to nowhere
Reddened veins that flared

Tick tock said the clock
Nightingales like mocking birds
Sang shrill the needles
A leap through thin air
Ashen leaf fell to the ground
The night carried me
Hushed party zone cries
In midnight’s celebration
Of butterflies’ wings
I crossed the river
Wound up in dark blue shadows
Other side of Time

The Dark Side of Time – Eric Serra

The last line is fantastic. I love it! 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Crossing the river to the other side of Time…
Love that concept.
The song was amazing too!
Well done, Geetha. 🙂
Thank you Eric. I cross Time in my dreams so thought I should write about it
What a coincidence, So do I. and now that makes me think of the movie”Somewhere in Time”
🙂
I actually shared the clip several times on twitter and on my facebook page. I did not lnow the movie but was searching for a video like that after my first dream and chanced upon it 🙂
ethereal and filled with stunning imagery…I could picture oceans hanging from those cliffs in this alternative time and space…a gorgeous write in senryu form 🙂
Thank you Thomas :). I put a picture of this alternative space on my Facebook publishing of the poem
You are welcome, Geetha 🙂
