Tales, one winter, had to be told
of rivers twining of the old
where highest of heat meets the cold
where struck in the head he’s revealed

The Beast is given chance to sway
millions of men just charmed away
serpents slithering find a way
blackbirds flying in sky tremble

Trumpets will sound as he’d be sworn
while purple and black would be worn
their heads then lighter should be shorn
a ritual to be unveiled

A ceremony from times past
as black pope dark shadows would cast
dancing in jigs they would go fast
round and round in circles of blue

We face them now in squares of pink
Though the dark fears our minds would sink
we retrieve ourselves from the brink
where we were facing gaping wound

We’ll find a way to mend the rift
some place to cry and pause to lift
the hearts that weighed and turned adrift
as the light enters our bosoms

We are but energy to steal
they prod us with hoses of steel
Just like how the calf gives us veal
our bodies deliver them food

Quantified as ounces or grams
we are chosen right from our prams
we are the innocent, the lambs
we may have nothing left but hope

As the feelings within us rise
we fetch more than bodily prize
we have much to do in surprise
we will cut the nozzle away

The light that into our hearts seeps
as the illusion our world sweeps
into proverbial eye that weeps
makes us more than we can fathom

Build with me bustling cathedrals
where mind rises above the knells
I was going to unknown hells
now heavens will pave me a road

Once laden with many a sigh
only hands lifted to the sky
now knowledge within lifts me high
I sharpen key to our escape

Every waking day I would plod
a cruel world that has us doubt God
living like cattle they would prod
slaves to their ever-growing wealth

I watch as starts their horrid game
to whom will they now shift the blame
North or South the beast is the same
all puppets bow to one master

Something awakes in my heart
a feeling something I could start
would bring back those life tore apart
just like the rip within my frame

Right from the sight of the rubbles
I know how to end our troubles
Tomorrow rings end of doubles
as I tear the fake from my eye

I push a door I know I must
arms flailing through a cloud of dust
I gather within blood and rust
I steel my nerves for conclusion

In my brain I am always free
though I battle the fearsome three
the system, fear and a weak me
I know our future will be real

Damien Rice - Hypnosis

Inner strength would pervade all souls

Inner strength would pervade all souls
14 December 2024

Soldiers amassed over the hills
Their presence gave the crowds the chills
as they felt from the gas the spills
winding slowly into their veins

The dark pervaded all corners
muffled the voice of the warners
stifled the sobs of the mourners
bestowed upon the thieves all praise

Unworthy men in the sun basked
their faces from horror were masked
no accounts no questions were asked
they were free to create havoc

All joy seemed to dwindle away
no purpose no person to sway
a wild journey into the fray
yet a voice seemed to speak of hope

Someday the daffodils will rise
so high above the reddened skies
as the throngs would gasp in surprise
a new day would pierce through the night

Hearts surviving alienation
minds no more prey to temptation
thoughts cleft of subordination
inner strength would pervade all souls

While ancient bells would ring alarm
the fickle ones showed falsehood charm
All imbued a sinister calm
The silence before the tempest

Free throats released a mighty sigh
The powers failed to forge a lie
where crossroads led to humble pie
the truth resounded in the mind

The breath of life turned inward heat
a place where soul unwound defeat
where Kings uncrowned would take a seat
In Kingdom, free rules are proclaimed

Wolves their claws did slowly sharpen
Hunters their long guns would snap in
What we never knew would happen
set in motion in a heartbeat

As the people failed several tests
the dark forces commenced arrests
with empty hearts and blazing chests
they spread their hate within the world

Of humans shaped a captive breed
they grappled with a dying creed
more hunger strikes more mouths to feed
a crown to tumble down and sway

The crowds the buildings set to blast
a sequence for the rage to last
and as the flames seared on steadfast
a new age dawned within the night

They carry weight of dark morrows
chest embedded with stark sorrows
a beating heart that cold fear knows
as the night sketches black inking

Legions overcoming troubles
lips under water blow bubbles
above surface flares yield rubbles
there are nine sins beneath our shame

The trees scorching out the daylight
offer no shade as they burn bright
columns of flames singe my eyesight
someday help will come to renew

I walked alone in a wild dream
within darkness shone a bright beam
eyes closed I followed a light stream
a way to another future

My faith restored I took a leap
a giant fall into the deep
edges of me began to seep
into the welcoming haven

My frame went through more than duress
though no fools were left to impress
I paved a way to sweet success
my King, future consort to tame

Inner turmoil had me for years
then slow quit me the loathsome fears
Within heart I have quelled my tears
Energy within me grew strong

Powers surging within bosom
Liquid nourishment for blossom
Spirit alone though not lonesome
the internal chaos long gone

I have put my questions to rest
all answers standing to the test
of internal peace, my conquest
Petals above my head bloom bright

Eyes downcast
The moon spoke to me
Of her past
Silvery
when her rays were more than words
homecoming of birds

They call shrill
nesting to declare
I survey
birds of prey
Their claws rake my window sill
for my wits to snare

Tomorrows
neat as sleek primrose
they spell hunt
with knives blunt
The sharpening on the knee
my white bones to see

Sense the blair
It smells monsoon’s flare
wars to win
through the din
Pouring rains wash off the bloods
unruly the floods

Weather dreams
inside out it screams
Dead the king
song to sing
the banshees wail upside down
downfall of the crown

The sun sweeps
its rays stricken bare
dragon sleeps
in its lair
My prince for now bedraggled
my eyes bedazzled
