Age Quod Agis

Age Quod Agis

27 January 2017

I wanted to share with you a lesson learnt from an anecdote from my life and a prayer as a gift.

We often hear the motto “practice what you preach” and if you look around you, hardly anyone is really willing to do that. You can see this reluctance in every domain from the personal, to the social, to the political to the religious and even to the spiritual.

I don’t think I need to even go into the detail of how we fail this motto on all those levels. Suffice to say that if you look at the world and take a really good look, the examples are so clear they’re almost a slap in the face. You can of course turn the other cheek or believe me when I say that the examples of failing that motto are really numerous.

Taking a step back, I realised that I had always wondered whether one could actually truly live this motto even when faced with dire personal circumstances and the wise ones will always caution you “be careful what you wish for” because you might just get it. Now laden with lessons but never with regret, I stand wiser and know that while in that distorted pattern of mathematics that one tries to term economics the past is not an indicator of future performance, it stands very true on the level of all that is natural, including for humans. The past is an indicator of what went wrong if your present is not quite what you wanted it to be. While not all may be able to see beyond and understand what could possibly go wrong in the now, some whom we may call visionary are given to see without seeing what could go wrong in what we are doing now. Some may wish to speak the truth seen and some may just hold their peace.

Another motto that I really like and that comes to me from my childhood school called “Good Shepherd Convent” in India is “Age Quod Agis” and I think it is a beautiful motto so I thought that I should share it as well with you. I would add that whatever you are doing, do it with Love which would equate to doing it the right way. If Love cannot be a part of what you are doing, then you are not doing the right thing altogether.

I pray that we will always learn from our past be it today or tomorrow and would like to gift you this prayer in the form of an intent to overcome karma, to retrieve soul memory and to heal from not just the past but also from any future afflictions. If you like it and it resonates with you, please feel free to share it and/or to link to it within your blogs or other social media.

Black widow

Mourning lost vigil

Of her death

Rancid breath

Hovering in morning chill

As Time sweeps over

Illusion

Hammering vision

Retina

Stuck in loop

Stroboscopic impression

Frontal collision

We were strands

Twirling through eras

Fear disbands

Reprimands

Scorching lips smothering fate

Melancholy’s slate

Burning pyre

My inner realms dire

Desert space

None to face

No judgement but fall from Grace

Upon green-blue fields

Stigmata

Mind’s repetition

Your kisses

Heal my wounds

That flay my every layer

Between core and skin

Hope runs thin

Time is a slayer

Partition

Melodies

A move away from fences

Disturbed defenses

The choices

They create craters

Caving loss

Felt in soul

Never again to be whole

Beliefs from the fear

I hold dear

Remnants of the skies

They pulsate

Within me

Through the air my heart dilate

Setting my soul free

The choices

They are more than faith

Measured steps

In blood flow

We reap only what we sow

Our hands kindness tools

Earthen rules

They speak of bounty

Made heavy

Weight of gold

The hindrance more than was told

Within dark whispers

Glowing choice

Forgiveness in heart

Love music

Symphony

In letting go of the reigns

A sky-bound rebirth

Heaven’s voice

Mother speaks through me

Energy

Deep healing

Flowing fast through my blue veins

Joining Sky and Earth

The tuning of love few delicate wires

A me and a do and so many cuts

Of heart felt the true not the peacock’s struts

Slight flight of the dove in cage of desires

The push and the shove old caveman admires

A hundred years too compound his sore guts

The warning cuckoo despairs timeless ruts

Of velvet the glove then welded by fires

I walk on the edge of a tight street rope

On right the healing soars with energy

On border of ledge still uphill the slope

Knee sore from kneeling bonded the clergy

Renewing the pledge with balance to cope

Bells will ring pealing roar in elegy

As the New Year approaches and the old one fades into space somewhere in between atoms, I thought we should welcome the New Year with Healing wishes for the Earth and for all of us so I decided to recite another Dreamtime prayer.

I am publishing it early because I am not sure I will have time to write blogs before the New Year although I suspect I just may find enough time to do that. Let me elaborate a bit more on what I mean by Dreamtime.

For those who are not aware yet, most of my poetry flows and I feel like I am not fully the creator of the images and stanzas that flow on their own somehow (a strange sensation) and I feel very much like what I imagine could have spurred Rumi (one of my favourite poets) to write the poem “Who says words with my mouth” that I have also shared on this blog.

Perhaps all poets have this strange sensation when they write poetry that simply flows out of them and will not be contained. A lot of my poetry flows to me after a night’s sleep or a short nap with some even spurred by daydreaming. I have coined this as Dreamtime art because it is so linked with the sleep mode of my brain or sometimes the extremely relaxed mode (paradoxically extreme emotions can also cause the same flowing reaction but not always on the positive side).

In the same way that most of my poetry is connected to Dreamtime, I often dream about prayers with positive intent. Originally the prayers were mainly in French, English or Arabic but of recent I dream in other languages that I am not normally familiar with. For some reason I am certain they are prayers because I have been able to retrace some of the words to actual meanings on the web though I am not sure the other words are from the same language because the web simply comes up with nothing when I google the other words. Another reason that makes me feel this way is because I also get a wonderful, powerful feeling of a presence that identifies as the mother of all and indicates to me this is a positive intent prayer. Of course the rational mind’s description of this would be completely different I gather but for now we will stay with the irrational mind of the Heart.

Regarding this prayer, what I can say is it is meant to be a healing prayer. If any of you bloggers reading can make sense of the prayer as recited below and translate it, I would be much obliged. Else just enjoy it and allow the words to pervade you and heal you if possible 🙂

I see your sorrow

In muted crying of mind

As despair rises

Lay your sword and shield

Let love be only dagger

Piercing gently Heart

Sit by my rivers

Bank on rising tides’ glory

Sing to your shadows

Lay down weary head

Speak to me of your troubles

Let me wash your woes

Embrace the feeling

Emerging from nothingness

Into Love’s glory

I will Heal your Soul

Swell blossoms of moonlit eyes

Crescents of morrows

When sunshine rises

Within dark of your valleys

You will feel the warmth

A way to be

A way to be

Look upon your inner light

Letting go more than the fight

Healing angels wing their way

So give in to love and play

And if you trust yourself enough

You’ll find life’s not so tough

On the road to agony

In memories’ key

You’ll found the way to ecstasy

A way to be

The road may seem so tiresome

I know you feel so lonesome

You think this road just glass and shards

You feel the pieces your soul discards

But if you trust yourself enough

You’ll find life’s not so tough

On the road to agony

In memories’ key

You’ll found the way to ecstasy

A way to be

When you think that light has gone

Know you’re not out there alone

Feel the angels walk beside

All throughout the rocky ride

And if you trust yourself enough

You’ll find life’s not so tough

On the road to agony

In memories’ key

You’ll found the way to ecstasy

A way to be

I believe in you and me

We are more than what we see

I believe in our strong heart

May its courage never depart

And if we trust ourselves enough

We’ll find life’s not so tough

On the road to agony

In memories’ key

We’ll find the way to ecstasy

A way to be

And if we trust ourselves enough

We’ll find life’s not so tough

On the road to agony

In memories’ key

We found the way to ecstasy

A way to be

I have not included a YouTube song yet because I am making this poem a song which I will include once I have sung it and in fact it started out like a song in my head before I wrote it as a free verse poem. Bear with me because I am not a singer but would really like to get this melody and the lyrics out there because it made me feel good so I thought it might help others feel good too

This was recorded as a memo on my phone because my usual camcorder was not working. Be kind and constructive with your criticism 😀

As seconds’ drifting Time within sand

Seeping through the gaps in the places within my clutch

Shapes shifting through morrows now disband

Invasion now quietened, subdued the old seasoned Dutch

Wars in memories’ echo waged

Intentions thrust upon the space of strife now mental

The boiling point steams creation raged

Recipes for metamorphosis elemental

The sword rests upon dark woodened land

In words the pillar, the power, the firm rock thus such

I lean upon you make no demand

The nearness enhances sweetness you would say as much

Miracles in the palm of my hand

Awaiting the injured for vibrations’ healing touch
