The blackbirds flying oh so high
over war torn landscapes they sigh
wings forming black waves in the sky
They replicate patterns on Earth

The world hurled out its wayward grief
It seemed there just was no relief
I looked at it in disbelief
Would I withstand what was in store?

I lay low in the leafy grass
body weighted like solid brass
eyes peering through the looking glass
would tomorrow hold new meanings?

My heart survived the black dismay
I kept the gloomy thoughts at bay
I piled upon me yellow hay
to make believe in new sunrise

Sun’s pallor shone at languid pace
to serve a day of deep disgrace
when men their horrors would not face
so the innocent paid the price

A thousand children were our shame
most surely we are all to blame
we saw them fall to deadly flame
now rubble and tears fill our hearts

I lift a world of red ember
a weight more than I remember
In a cold night of December
internal flicker fed my hope

I set out light as a feather
lost my way through moss and heather
dark storms my heart will now weather
their stark vines crawl through me at night

There are winds blowing me outside
hollowed out my insides slow glide
I am subdued at eventide
Dawn will resurrect what I am

In my mind lurk expectations
I write silent invocations
my book opens revelations
in my spree there is path to God

The holly hollered for a kiss
your sweet face, somehow, I did miss
the winds in winter did much hiss
missing heat of your nightly touch

I conjured your presence in space
with many a quill to retrace
Your features woven inky lace
I drew from memories heartbeat

Right upon you I set my sights
The days went through full of delights
Rock me baby on moonlit nights
let the sun wake us from our sighs

In becoming

In becoming

There are seasons in my art
of coming changes to impart
soul from the Earth soon to depart
There are movements in my chest’s space

Shadows twirling and unwinding
towards a final test pointing
they describe a last reckoning
Initiation a contest

The white clouds in forming whisper
memories of green, now a blur
opposites within me murmur
on how to attain the balance

I know dainty schemes of stillness
setting my heart to forgiveness
they distill time beyond duress
forgetting past hurt left behind

My inner skies set in light blue
follow my soaring spirit’s hue
bonding with galaxies anew
my mind expands into their light

Peace and happiness face the void
The urge to fight back I avoid
I am of all black thoughts devoid
In becoming I accept all

I am just one breath from a thousand voices

I am the vestige of a fake sermon
the redeemer of a so-called vermin
the fate of which they will determine
heads or tails, palms would examine

I am a slowly revived olive tree
My gentle farmers rekindle me
their dreams of liquid green honey
set in their dead eyes that no longer see

My fruit hangs on the West Bank
where every corner smells death dank
metal on their heads lands with a clank
they think my keepers they outrank

I am a call for prayer in their lost homes
to Jerusalem, Rome and all those golden domes
The mind of each in inner turmoil roams
as fire every inch of their land combs

I am just one breath from a thousand voices
seeping through clenched teeth’s brittle noises
exhaled from tight chests pressed in dead choices
while inhuman armada in kids’ blood rejoices

The oncoming Tide

Open wide
Ears for listening
The rumble
Awakes hearts
Residual motion parts
With bygone system

Clinging caste
Lonesome fire lights
While the hordes
Pick their fights
Kings and Queens suppressed their rights
On which Lords set sights

Giant strides
Multiply chances
A world ends
In stances
Measure of Fate that reckons
A New World beckons

Open wide
Ears, lips, Heart and Mind
Reach out slow
Beyond Grind
Feel the moon shiver and bind
The oncoming Tide

Glory of new-found mystery
The rhythm of the feet now changed
Embracing magic once estranged
Bodies melted in ecstasy;

Like long lost pagan symphony
The moon the clouds in night did chase
Fervent dancers in trembling daze
They locked their arms in restless link
Skies defined them in magic ink
Of lucid embrace transient phase

She jumped suddenly
from the comfort of the couch
wisps of hair flaring

The couch burst alit
Once an abode of pleasure
it now spouted flames

Her hair gushed red streaks
The warmth at her temples hurled
sinister designs

All contentment gone
her face erupted fury
as eyebrows belched fire

Blankets of water
trickled down path of relief
on flanks that spewed rain

Quiet times restored
her throat emitted strange notes
she regained her poise

Crescent moon to leave

Crescent moon to leave

Wolves hurry
across the landscapes
fiery crops
burning high
Bosom utters not a sigh
crossing through the flames

Horses dive
through etheric lanes
shaking manes
hooves thunder
The moonlit sights a wonder
etched into our hearts

Two to grieve
My breast torn did heave
coils cleft
none bereft
They ask me now in pieces
crescent moon to leave

Mind rising
encounters blockage:
underground
resistance
I fly through with insistence
a trip beyond seen

Meadows move
beyond my eyesight
born outside
they revel
in continued uprising
shunning my landscapes

Like snake dance
revealing the veil
consciousness
is centered
My fingertips penetrate
edge of its tremor
