Their infinite arms outstretched

Embracing our frames

 

The Gods are sleeping

Moss and heather cover them

Dark their sheltered caves

 

The Gods are sleeping

Their hair miles of cypresses

Wisps heave in the winds

 

The Gods are sleeping

Their faces emblems of peace

Bodies a firm rock

 

The Gods are sleeping

They dream plans to overcome

The human frailty

 

The Gods are weeping

Their tears a river of pain

Bondage unending

Highways will lead North

Where fog and sea surrender

Intimate lacing

 

Wish upon my bones

Call to the elders that know

Stories of caskets

 

Moonbeams grow shadows

Within heart of the meadows

Fairies live prancing

Rose insulates me

They flew in bosom

Starry eyed children from home

Otherworldly trace

 

Mother stilled my heart

Creepers exhaled wilderness

Petals hung in air

 

Old garlands crumbled

Yesterday’s gods lived no more

Peace an outsider

 

Carved doors stayed ajar

Valleys and hills relayed height

Journeys dispelled fear

 

Moonbeams carried sight

Into the night I rode lone

Withered traces swept

 

Retracing mindscape

Counting footsteps I gathered

Yellow butterflies to ground

Moss heather and stone

Seventh aquarelle : Cherry blossom tree branch

I am back to my initial challenge of 10 aquarelles and have taken as subject a cherry blossom branch given the recent synchronicity on cherry trees. This time I combined alla prima type of painting with wet on dry painting.

 

It occurred to me that just looking at pink made me cheerful. Perhaps that is where the French saying « voir le monde avec des lunettes roses » (meaning looking at the world with rose-coloured glasses) comes from  🙂

 

I hope you will enjoy the painting and the typical song I thought would accompany it well.
