Blue ribbons

Hang from the dark skies

As the rains

Fill the plains

With the remains of seasons

Spent in wasted stance

Plush meadows

Once breathed laughter’s lines

As the sun

Shone brightly

Upon yards now unsightly

A blossom of graves

They built caves

Within heathen grounds

Released hounds

On the weak

Their kings grovel as we speak

Their battlefields red

Newly wed

The bells ring for you

Pealing love

High above

The cries to bring out the dead

As the black tides sweep

Put to rest

Soul in house arrest

The moonbeams

Hush its screams

It wanes withers but for dreams

Daily sustenance

Daylight broad

The waking penance

Where I walk

Where I talk

My mind in slow resonance

With the sleeping hordes

Iron rod

Piercing my ribcage

They seek rage

Through outrage

The body feels mind repeals

The soul mere stillness

Walk along

I will recount lives

Filling you

With wonders

From deep wells I draw splendors

My mouth a brush stroke

We relive

Many lost embers

The frail heart

Remembers

Feelings more than brief memoirs

Stories for boudoirs

United

The pieces of us

They sing loud

The Swan Song

Crystalline drops that take us

To where we belong

To where I will bloom

To where I will bloom

10 January 2016

bloom thecreatorsproject vice com

The rain fell softly

Upon brown desert landscapes

Where sand had rusted

The wind howled on bleak

Echoing through rocky peaks

Time’s grey witnesses

Beyond yellow stretched

Between grey peaks green ravines

The light hid in play

A journey inward

Where barren neighboured the lush

Reflected outward

Inside these valleys

Surrounding peaks bring to eyes

Moist loss of today

Whisper to me feats

In the mind’s eye that listens

Bravado a must

I will bid you tales

When tomorrows’ letters spell

New recollections

There was a road spent

In travel to chances dreamt

Under moonlit skies

This ride has begun

A long and dusty road blinks

Withering in sun

We walk oft alone

When butchers cut the pieces

They square them smallest

When all else has failed

What more to rid now these lands?

Only my hopes’ pearls

Shimmering presence

Between two worlds I flicker

A ghost of myself

Fold tight the napkin

We are all going somewhere

You might follow soon

Once on other side

Remember me by the touch

Of hidden insights

Now this tired flame

Dilates and shrinks as I sail

To where I will bloom

Reinvented spring

Reinvented spring

3 January 2016

Spectacles, new eyes

Look within their frame’s focus

Winter’s snow turns crisp

Next doors a bird chirps

A leafy tree in desert

Reinvented spring

Rain’s pitter patter

Upon the meadows flowers

Snow preserved by walls

Beach sands extended

Slight rivers joining the sea

Summer kissed winter

Images from my camera for the flowers (all from my garden) and from luxuo.com, worldoftravel.com, ink361.com, gadling.com for the Dubai sightseeing points landscapes

I wrote this poem in a series of Haiku bordering on Senryu because it struck me how much it is typical of this country in its winter to know of three seasons within the same time; mainly winter, spring and summer together but during some days winter, spring and autumn bizarrely depending on where you are going. The winter symbol is of course man-made with the construction of ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates where you can go skiing regardless of the temperature outside. Winter here is the equivalent of spring in Europe and when it is not raining the weather is fantastic, flowers are blooming and birds are chirping everywhere.

The sand gathered

Rain attempted paths

Would desert gain terrain?

Puddles formed slow

The roads were heavy

Why did my Heart feel light?

The flowers bloomed

My Heart sang larky

Did spring arrive early?

See

Written

Upon me

Handle with care

If crushed I would bleed

Red roses seep inky thoughts

The mess you can’t leave behind

Most stained pursuit of forgiveness

Between frozen shelters and black rain

Yet every day through ice and rain I breathe

Thawing releases more wretched pain

Inbred sense of self, mind’s harness

Picture perfect sense railed blind

Scarred mind’s forget me knots

The one-eyed would lead

Blind people bare

In frenzy

Risen

She looked at his face, a picture of an angel. His hands against the teddy bear she had put next to him. It always made her catch her breath when she saw him so serene and peaceful in his sleep.

He was almost always such a naughty boy when he was awake and she had to scold him often, too often perhaps.

She kneeled down and grazed his cheek with her lips. It did not feel quite right. She stared at him. Something welled inside her as her friends propped her up.

She looked down at him, the teddy bear almost his size squeezed into the carving out of the pine tree she had chosen. She thought it should have been her, more white hairs on her head and many more wrinkles to her face lying in a larger sized coffin with him a young man looking down at her, happy she had lived such a full life though sad to let her go.

It was not meant to be this way. Her throat was still parched, all throughout her an aching fire moved but the tears would not come, not yet.

Tomorrow or someday, sometime it will rain but today there was only the fire and the desolation

Fleeting recognition’s wink
