## 🧠 ABOUT THE PROCESS

I transformed my original poem by adapting it into lyrics that were then used for a song generated using Suno, featuring my voice. Below you’ll find part of the original poem, the revised lyrics, and the musical version.

## 📜 ORIGINAL POEM

This poem reflects upon the emotional disintegration that may arise from prolonged attachment to a psychologically consuming relationship. Through symbolic imagery rooted in shadows, fading memories and corrosion, it explores the erosion of identity, the persistence of grief and the dangers of losing oneself within obsession and emotional dependency. Beneath its darker atmosphere, the poem ultimately gestures toward detachment, self-reclamation and the quiet rebuilding of inner equilibrium.

The heart knows
Stories of lovers
Beyond Death
Beyond Time
Beyond pretence of the rhyme
When heartbeats spoke Truth

## ✍️ ADAPTED LYRICS

[Verse]
When the heartbeats can speak the Truth
the heart knows of warm tales that soothe
Stories of lovers beyond Time
beyond Death and pretence of rhyme

[Verse]
Orphaned hands they twitch in waking
Time’s sands, History in making
Colourless legends of disgrace
awakening to the lost face

[Verse]
I now have no name, no one calls
Perhaps Jane, Ann, Ruth? Like leaf falls
the pitter patter of me blows
within wind like soundless echoes

[Verse]
All is lost, some wounds never heal
Within bosom lies the appeal
For when the sadness does depart
gaping hole remains within heart

[Verse]
Cascading days spent counting tears
assessing the cost of dark fears
Remnants of faded sounds now stir
memories of living that shunned her

[Verse]
I knew you like obsession’s ink
You drove me to the very brink
of inches of blinding madness
as I distilled you in sadness

[Chorus]
I keep none, cuffs and links oppress
I adorn just a simple dress
My mind slow learning has begun
to love a shadow, perhaps none

[Verse]
In wine’s haze I dissolve your thoughts
seeking little forget me nots
Brewery my sole salvation
dark gate to intoxication

[Verse]
Like you change white shirts neat and smart
I change skies, view your cufflinks art
Ornaments like my dark clouds’ stain
slow forming safe haven for rain

[Verse]
You wipe them as they settle rust
while I drench starched cuffs in lost trust
Tiny dots made of mock silver
in stain less steel for my killer

[Verse]
They pierce me the gift she once made
Tying ends, loose nooses pervade
extremities on the same arms
that oft held her too, oozing charms

[Verse]
I throw them into winding pits
of my mind, my eyes now tight slits
Blind to the spaces in between
what was, will be and could have been

[Chorus]
I keep none, cuffs and links oppress
I adorn just a simple dress
My mind slow learning has begun
to love a shadow, perhaps none
