The ominous ice

Sulphur glides
under earthen crust
Fire flies
within skies
Erupted volcano rides
blackened soil and dust

Lava flows
onto reddened Earth
Changed the stance,
lost the mirth,
they survey the starlit dance
as the twilight grows

Moon looming
overlooks Big Blue
rockets flung
Mars grooming
Pretext that turned so untrue
Just a trompe l’oeil hung

Time matters
As the clocks unwind
hide of blind
Blood splatters
over eyes that do not see
stark reality

Parched throats cry
symphony of dark
their chests sigh
while they flail
their bodies search the lost spark
one that told a tale

Angels start
the oncoming flight
they play part
through stark plight
Dominion’s auction set price
the ominous ice

They create new world

They create new world

Lightning hurled
onto my ceilings
it unfurled
body curled
I expand into the light
spun power and might

Rumbling on
the thunder follows
jaws of sound
dreary hound
it speaks of deadly gallows
where dark shadow flows

Venom hides
deep within my blood
Red to flood
their insides
corpses strewn where my frame rides
my will in the flood

A cross hides
under mighty waves
Yesterday’s
helpless slaves
they chatter as the hand lays
their bodies in skies

I raise them
above eventides
their insides
bleak anthem
their guts raised a message fall
inside the ocean

The salts waste
my willful hunger
The mind raised
breath to taste
millions of silver-white drops
tomorrow’s red crops

A flashback
your image hurtles
Screeching stops
blood curdles
the memory of you calms
like olden-time psalms

You and I
a sacred union
The shared thoughts
they vibrate
hastened more to love than hate
they create new world

We were once swans

We were once swans
9 November 2021

I was once a swan
gracefully gliding
I conquered surfaces of waters
gleaming as they slipped
tickling my under belly
working their way to my neck
that revealed itself to slaughter

Daytime picked its grind
tossing me sideways
ripping parts of my wings
as I lay flat on the lake
a sacrifice to my ineptitude
my commonplace fantasy
of being no more

What is left of me loosens
at the edges; it parts
revealing scintillating facets
of places hidden within
where I search for my traces
when I moved head held high
unveiling my togetherness

I am still sometimes a swan
patching feather after feather
through my insides laid bare
retrieving lost wings
carved inside my memories
They speak of lost paradise
when we were all children

I see now the swan in her
fleetingly visible in the sun
shadows of her wings soaring
high above the green lake
I see her and feel the ache
She hides it gracefully
We were once swans
