Shadows in my life
I walk in the valley of shadow and doubt
I know not what life is all about
Though lips I have learnt to purse and pout
And sing to the tune of Schubert’s Trout
♦
For I embark on life’s last ferry
And all around, within, seems dreary
Conjuring up moments so merry
I realize my heart’s too weary
♦
Through fading faces I walk alone
Through shadows and pleasures that once shone
Unto my eyes, brought my lips a moan
It’s all gone now, is my heart of stone?

beautiful…as you! Your poem reminds me of this song “Broken Stone”, Reamonn, listen to it, see if you agree..
Beautiful song. I like it very much, thanks for sharing.
Aah ! nice one.. keep it up
Thank you. I first wrote the poem three years ago, after my separation with my husband. Since our divorce I have not had access to all my data so have rewritten slightly differently the poem.
